A Thorough Approach

Protecting Your Oral Health

Comprehensive Dental Exams

When you think about it, the health of your mouth is extremely important to your overall wellbeing and health. Without proper care, oral problems can indicate or lead to larger issues such as cancer, diabetes, gum disease and even heart problems.

By conducting a thorough and comprehensive dental exam at your next checkup, Dr. Erin Anderson will help ensure that your oral health is optimal. She will also offer tips to ward off disease and other issues that can arise from poor dental maintenance.

The Exam

Depending on your age, history and time since your last dentist’s visit, the Brosy team will look at several factors during your exam. This can include a discussion about your diet, sugar intake, tobacco use, previous procedures you’ve had performed, as well as an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your oral health.

Dr. Anderson will evaluate your risk for future tooth decay or gum disease and offer tips to prevent further damage. If necessary, dental xrays will be taken. Dr. Anderson will look at your bite for any signs of problems with TMJD and pay particular attention to chips, stains, plaque buildup and discolorations. Options to treat these conditions include bonding and veneers or the use of specialized toothpastes and mouthwashes. If cavities are found during the exam, Dr. Anderson will discuss treatment options, including fillings, and other procedures. A cancer screening is also a routine - and important - part of a comprehensive dental exam.

By conducting a full, in-depth dental exam, Brosy Family Dentistry is looking out for your oral health and your overall health. The exam is a chance to ask any questions you might have about pain, troublesome teeth or advice on how to proceed with a particular issue. With more than 30 years of experience in dentistry, Brosy’s team of dental hygienists and dental assistants are here to make your next comprehensive dental exam a comfortable and welcoming one.
